ES 64 U2 - modernization for MAV long-distance traffic

In the fall of 2023, the MAV Group leased 15 ES 64 U2 locomotives from Akiem to replace obsolete V43 locomotives. The locomotive shown here, 182 573-6, originally comes from MRCE, is equipped with ETCS and is approved for use in Hungary, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Romania and Serbia. It is mainly used on cross-border long-distance trains, especially between Budapest and Vienna.

Detailed model with technical refinements

The Fleischmann model is painted in the current MÁV design and equipped with three prototypical pantographs. The LED headlights change depending on the direction of travel and the high beam can be switched digitally. An onboard sound decoder provides realistic operating sounds. The locomotive can be controlled particularly intuitively via the Z21 driver's cab.

Reliable technology in a compact design

The locomotive has a 3-pole motor, four driven axles, two traction tires and a flywheel mass for smooth running characteristics. Coupling is via NEM 355 shafts with close coupler link. With a length of just 121 mm, it is perfect for both compact and large-scale layouts.
