Fleischmann 7760017 N 4-Piece Set ICE-S BR 410 DB-AG Ep. VI Measurement Train – High-Speed Research on Rails
Are you looking for an extraordinary high-speed train for your N-gauge model railroad layout that combines modern railway technology with exciting research work? With the Fleischmann 7760017 four-car ICE-S test train from Deutsche Bahn, you can add a special Era VI test train to your layout. The set consists of two Class 410 power cars and two special Class 810 test cars. With its characteristic ICE design, LED lighting, and a motorized power car, this model is an interesting addition for collectors and enthusiasts of modern high-speed trains.
Prototype: ICE-S – Deutsche Bahn’s high-speed test train
The ICE-S of the 410.1 series is an important component of modern railway research in Germany. As a high-speed measurement and test train, it is used by DB Systemtechnik for test, measurement, and certification runs. Its primary task is to evaluate new high-speed lines, technical infrastructure, and innovative rail systems under real-world operating conditions. The train is based on two modified ICE-2 power cars and specially equipped measurement cars. During test runs, the interaction between wheel and rail, current collection from the overhead wire, running dynamics, vibrations, and modern train control systems such as ETCS are examined, among other things. Prior to the commissioning of new high-speed lines, the ICE-S conducts extensive test and acceptance runs, thereby making an important contribution to rail safety.
Four-car ICE-S set with two power cars and a measurement car
The Fleischmann 7760017 train set replicates the characteristic configuration of the ICE-S with four cars. Included are the motorized power car 410 101-0, the two measurement cars 810 101-6 and 810 102-4, and the non-motorized power car 410 102-8. This configuration allows you to recreate a typical Deutsche Bahn high-speed test train. The two measurement cars form the heart of the prototype, as they house the extensive measurement equipment used to examine rolling stock and infrastructure. With a total length over the buffers of 588 mm, this creates an impressive train set for modern N-gauge layouts.
Model Technology & Digital Upgrade Options
The Fleischmann ICE-S is designed for analog DC operation. The motorized power car features a flywheel drive and four powered axles. Two traction tires assist in power transmission to the rails. For future digitalization, the model features a Next18 digital interface, through which a compatible digital decoder can be retrofitted. The direction-dependent LED lighting features a white three-light headlight and two red tail lights. With a minimum radius of 192 mm, the four-car measurement train can also be used on more compact N-gauge model railroad layouts.
Visual Features & Prototype-Accurate Design
This new Fleischmann release depicts the ICE-S as a special high-speed measurement and test train. The characteristic shape of the two ICE-2 power cars and the measurement cars arranged between them give the model its unmistakable appearance. The cars are equipped with interior details. For an even more realistic effect, matching interior lighting (Fleischmann part number 944701) can be retrofitted. The NEM 355 coupler housings with close-coupling kinematics round out the technical features of this four-car train set.
Applications on Modern N-Gauge Layouts
The Fleischmann ICE-S is ideal for Era VI model railroads featuring modern main lines, high-speed sections, and large stations. Particularly interesting is the depiction of a test run on a new high-speed line or a test and acceptance run prior to the commencement of regular passenger service. Encounters with ICE trains, modern electric locomotives, and other Deutsche Bahn rolling stock also offer a variety of layout possibilities. Unlike ordinary passenger trains, the ICE-S performs special technical tasks, thereby ensuring exceptional operational dynamics on your model railroad layout.
A Special Train Set for Collectors & ICE Enthusiasts
With the Fleischmann 7760017, you’ll receive an interesting model of an extraordinary Deutsche Bahn vehicle. The ICE-S embodies the technical evolution of modern high-speed rail and documents the important work of railway research. This four-car test train is an attractive addition, especially for collectors of ICE models, enthusiasts of modern railway technology, and N-gauge model railroaders focusing on Era VI. Get your hands on the Fleischmann ICE-S Class 410 and bring the fascinating world of high-speed test runs to your model railroad layout!
