Kres 2172MDS LVT 172 157-0 + LVS 172 757-7, DR, Ep. IV (digital with Sound) Product Details
Prototype: In the mid-1960s, the LVT was the most important car on very many branch lines of the DR. Development work was started in 1955. By 1959, 2 prototypes had been built and tested at the Haldensleben depot. In 1962/63, a pilot series consisting of 5 units was built in the former VEB Waggonbau Bautzen. This was followed by 2 further production series with a total of 63 railcars and the associated sidecars until 1964. Starting with serial number 2.09.033, the panorama windows were replaced by a 3-piece front window. Starting in 1965, control cars were added to the program, which eliminated the need for time-consuming transfers at end points. Starting in 1969, the former VEB Waggonbau Görlitz produced a series of cars with improved multiple controls and reinforced frames. This model is to be assigned to this series.
Model: In addition to the modified road numbers 172 175-0 / 172 757-7 with the home address Reichenbach/V., the special feature is the design with decorative strips, which were removed from almost all vehicles during DR Era IV. The model has interior lighting and direction-dependent head and tail lights. The locomotive is powered by both axles. One axle, including the transmission, is designed to swivel to ensure good current pickup. The model is equipped with a FlexDec® motor and function decoder from KRES that supports the DCC protocol. A separate interface for other decoder brands is not available. In addition to the motor control, this decoder offers numerous additional functions specifically corresponding to the prototype. The coupling of both vehicles is done by a current carrying coupling board. This ensures that all 4 axles are included in the power supply.
