About the prototype: In 1935, 2 examples of this railcar were produced as elT 1998 and 1999 by the Fuchs wagon factory in Heidelberg (mechanical part) and AEG (electrical part). As the carriages were designed to provide as unrestricted a view of the landscape as possible, they were mainly used for excursions and special trips. These mostly took place in southern Germany and Austria, but there were also trips in Switzerland and in more northern Germany. ET 91 02 was hit during a bombing raid on the Munich depot on March 9, 1943, burned out completely and was decommissioned on July 9, 1943. ET 91 01 was then secured and could still be used until an accident on December 12, 1995. It has been in the Augsburg Railway Park since May 2005.
About the model: Kres now makes it possible to observe these special railcars in your own model railroad landscape. The model has great driving characteristics and an outstanding appearance. As with the original, the look is characterized by the many glass surfaces. Accordingly, great importance was attached to the interior of the model, as this is much more visible than on many other models. But the exterior of the car is also impressive. Precise printing, detailed roof pantographs and running gear components ensure an outstanding overall impression. The paintwork of the model corresponds to the status of Era IV, after the railcar was refurbished by the German Federal Railroad after the Second World War.
The model is completed by various sound and light functions. In addition to a red and white light change, the model also has interior lighting to skillfully highlight the interior. These functions are implemented using low-maintenance and bright LEDs.
