Kres 4913 railcar Gläserner Zug elT1998, DRG, Ep. II Product Details
About the prototype: 2 electrically powered railcars were built in 1930, which were referred to as glass trains due to their almost completely glazed walls and sloping roofs. One of the two units burned out during a bombing raid on Munich during the Second World War. The other railcar, however, survived the Second World War and was used for a long time for excursions and special trips. These trips were mainly in southern Germany and Austria, but there were also some trips to Switzerland, northern Germany, all the new federal states and the then Czechoslovakia. The railcar's service life ended in 1995 due to an accident. Since its transfer to the Augsburg Railway Park, it has been restored to museum condition.
About the model: With this model, Kres offers an analog version of the glass train. This has an NEM 651 interface, which can also make the various lighting functions usable digitally. Visually, the model impresses with its precision in the reproduction of external details, such as printing, running gear details and roof pantographs, but also with the detailed interior, which is set in scene by the interior lighting and the large glazing of the car. A powerful motor drives the model and ensures excellent driving characteristics.
