Kres 4913D railcar Gläserner Zug elT1998, DRG, Ep. II (digital, without sound) Product Details
About the prototype: 2 electrically powered railcars were built in 1930, which were referred to as glass trains due to their almost completely glazed walls and sloping roofs. One of the two units burned out during a bombing raid on Munich during the Second World War. The other railcar, however, survived the Second World War and was used for a long time for excursions and special trips. These trips were mainly in southern Germany and Austria, but there were also some trips to Switzerland, northern Germany, all the new federal states and the then Czechoslovakia. The railcar's service life ended in 1995 due to an accident. Since its transfer to the Augsburg Railway Park, it has been restored to museum condition.
About the model: This model from Kres depicts the condition of the railcar when it was completed in the 1930s. This digital version has a large number of switchable lighting functions, which extend from the passenger compartment to the toilets and the driver's cab. The model is driven by a motor that provides plenty of power with excellent running characteristics. Visually, the model is excellently reproduced from the roof to the printing to the running gear.
