Description

LGB 30142 G passenger car MD 3, Jagsttalbahn, Ep. IV Product Details

Travel Like in Grandma's Day – LGB MD 3 Passenger Car of the Jagsttalbahn

The LGB 30142 MD 3 passenger car brings the incomparable atmosphere of the Jagsttalbahn back to life. This 1:22.5 scale model evokes an era when train travel was still a leisurely experience—with wooden benches, open platforms, and the unhurried pace of a narrow-gauge railway. Painted in moss green and featuring authentic lettering, the MD 3 is a perfect recreation of how it appeared in service on the Jagsttalbahn in the 1980s.

A Vehicle with a Special History

In the 1960s, the end of the old wooden boxcars seemed inevitable. The Federal Railroad had modernized its fleet, but some of these quaint cars remained in service in the Bottwartal valley. After the line was decommissioned, SWEG acquired four of these cars to revive passenger service on the Jagsttalbahn. One of them was the M-D 3. Starting in 1967, it served on school routes and later as part of historic trains on the 39-km-long route between Möckmühl and Dörzbach.

Faithful reproduction in its 1980s condition

The LGB model depicts the MD 3 car in its operational condition around 1983, as it was used by SWEG at that time. The moss-green paint scheme, the white lettering, and the open platform correspond exactly to the historic prototype. The model was released to mark the 125th anniversary of the Jagsttalbahn—a stylish tribute to this historic line.

Reliable technology for garden railway use

The car is equipped with high-quality metal wheel sets that ensure smooth running on the track. Thanks to its robust construction, the model is ideal for long-term outdoor use—just as the original cars once were. Whether as a solo car or in combination with other Jagsttalbahn vehicles, this two-axle car adds a touch of nostalgia to any layout.

Perfect for Combining with Other Vehicles

The MD 3 pairs perfectly with the LGB Steam Locomotive 798.101 (Item No. L24268), with which it regularly operated in real life. When paired with the L33205 car, it creates an authentic train set from the heyday of the Jagsttalbahn in the 1980s—ideal for anyone who wants to recreate historical scenes on their garden railway.

What’s Included

The LGB MD 3 passenger car is supplied in a moss-green finish with detailed lettering, metal wheel sets, and a design faithful to the original. The model is ready to run right out of the box and is ideal for use on all G-gauge track systems.

For Fans of Narrow Gauge and Regional History

The LGB 30142 MD 3 passenger car is not only a high-quality model but also a piece of regional railway history. It’s ideal for model railroaders who value historical accuracy and an authentic appearance. Now available in the model railroad shop—a charming highlight for any layout!
