Märklin 55129 steam locomotive BR 18, museum locomotiveomotive des Technikmuseums Sinsheim, Ep. VI Product Details

Class 18 Steam Locomotive

Prototype: Class 18 314 express steam locomotive with oil main firing and oil tender, museum locomotive of the Sinsheim Museum of Technology. Former Baden IVh. Condition around 2021.

The "Schorsch" - a unique one-off from the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR). The steam locomotive 18 314 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) of the GDR, later called "Schorsch", has an unusual, even extraordinary life story. Once put into service in 1919 as a Baden "noble racer" of the "IV h" series, it was taken over by the DRG as 18 314. After the end of the Second World War, the locomotive was exchanged for an S 3/6 in the Soviet zone, where the later VES-M Halle urgently needed a fast four-cylinder compound steam locomotive for test runs. To make it even faster, in 1960 it was fitted with a reconditioned boiler, partial cladding, a new driver's cab and tender as well as a green paint job. The icing on the cake was the conversion to oil main firing in 1967. It was decommissioned at the end of 1971 and sold to West Germany in 1984. Since 1986, it has been on permanent loan from the HEF and is one of the highlights of the Auto- und Technikmuseum in Sinsheim.
