About the original: With the model of the class 111, Minitrix offers a locomotive that is used in a wide variety of areas of passenger transportation. In the Rhine-Ruhr area in the 1980s, this included S-Bahn traffic, in most cases local and regional traffic, but the locomotives were also used for heavy long-distance passenger traffic. A total of 227 locomotives were produced between 1974 and 1984. The majority of class 111s were still in service until the late 2000s. During the 2010s, various locomotives were taken out of service due to the end of their service life and some were sold to private railroad companies. However, some models still received new main inspections and are used to make up for a lack of capacity.
About the model: This model from Minitrix has a very special paint scheme. It is based on the classic red and beige color scheme of the DB, but belongs to "DB Gebrauchtzug", a subsidiary of DB AG, which sells rolling stock that is no longer needed to private companies. A die-cast zinc body with numerous intricate details and a detailed running gear ensure a convincing and true-to-original appearance in addition to the printing. A powerful motor drives the 4 axles of the model, ensuring excellent power transmission and great running characteristics. In addition, the model offers a large number of digitally switchable light and sound functions, which can be switched by the built-in sound decoder with mfx and DCC central units.
