The Piko 21826 is the AC version of the modern 5-car BR 442 "Talent 2" electric multiple unit in the striking design of the Rostock S-Bahn. This 2026 novelty is aimed at Märklin drivers who want to recreate current DB AG regional traffic in the model - complete with factory-installed sound decoder and many digital functions.

Talent 2 multiple units have been on the road throughout Germany since 2011, especially in regional service. The Era VI version shown here reflects the modern appearance of the Rostock S-Bahn and impresses with its detailed implementation, acoustic equipment and reliable technology on a scale of 1:87.

Digital & sound functions ex works

The model is equipped with an 8-pole sound decoder ex works and is designed for AC operation. The integrated loudspeaker provides realistic sounds such as closing doors, driving noises, squealing brakes and more. All functions can be conveniently controlled via digital control units - for a comprehensive driving and sound experience on your AC system.

Lighting & functionality

A direction-dependent light change in white/red with LED technology ensures a true-to-life representation by day and night. Interior lighting is not provided at the factory, but can be retrofitted if required. A special coupling for multiple traction is included for use in double traction - ideal for large layouts with modern regional services.

Model dimensions & possible uses

With a length over buffers of 1002 mm, the train is a real highlight on the layout and ideally suited for large stations or main lines. The minimum radius is 358 mm so that curves can also be mastered without any problems. The model has NEM shafts and close coupler link as well as four traction tires for reliable traction.

Prototype & operating reality

The class 442 is used by DB AG for modern local transport. In the version for the Rostock S-Bahn, it is used on routes along the Baltic Sea coast and transports commuters and travelers in northern Germany every day. The model authentically transfers this current operational activity to H0 format.

The set includes the 5-car class 442 837 S-Bahn Rostock electric multiple unit with factory-fitted sound decoder, operating instructions and a special coupler for multiple traction. The model is ready for immediate use in the digital AC system.
