The Piko 21841 is the AC sound version of the innovative BR 248 "Vectron Dual Mode" in the striking design of SETG (Salzburger EisenbahnTransportLogistik GmbH). With this 2026 novelty, PIKO is bringing a state-of-the-art vehicle concept to your Märklin-compatible layout - equipped with a factory-fitted PIKO sound decoder and numerous light functions.

The prototype was presented by Siemens Mobility in 2019. It combines the classic diesel drive with the option of running electrically under contact wire. The locomotive thus combines flexibility and efficiency - perfect for modern freight transport scenarios where there is no need to change locomotives.

Digitally equipped & sound included

The locomotive is equipped with a PluX22 sound decoder and the PIKO TrainSound® onboard system. The large-volume loudspeaker ensures clear, powerful reproduction of all typical driving and shunting noises: diesel engine, electric traction motors, fan, brake and signal horn - all digitally controllable on AC systems.

Lighting & digital highlights

The equipment includes digitally switchable driver's cab and engine room lighting as well as driver's desk lighting. The white/red light changes depending on the direction of travel using modern LED technology. This makes the locomotive look absolutely prototypical at any time of day and in any operating state.

Attention to detail & technology

With free-standing handrails, windshield wipers, a rotating roof fan wheel and a metal scissor pantograph, the model is a visual highlight. The open view into the engine room and finely engraved bogies and fan grilles complete the high-quality overall appearance.

Model dimensions & operating characteristics

The locomotive has a length over buffers of 230 mm and is suitable for a minimum radius of 358 mm. Two traction tires ensure reliable traction even with heavy trains. The couplers comply with the NEM standard and are equipped with close coupler linkages - ideal for reliable train formation.

SETG uses the class 248 flexibly in freight traffic, running on electricity on electrified sections and on diesel on non-electrified lines. The model brings this future-oriented mode of operation realistically to H0 scale - ideal for modern layouts with a focus on efficient rail freight traffic.
