Visually, there is a clear view between the boiler and frame, particularly fine lines under the boiler and gracefully designed spoked wheels. The typical star on the smokebox door is free-standing - a striking detail for maximum faithfulness to the prototype.

The prototype: Last large steam locomotive series of the CSD

The class 477.0 was built in 60 units between 1951 and 1955 and was intended as a powerful express train tender locomotive with a 2'D2' axle arrangement for heavy passenger traffic. With an operating weight of 131 tons, it was one of the heaviest tender locomotives in Europe at the time. Its top speed of approx. 100 km/h and a starting tractive effort of almost 110 kN made it a powerful all-purpose machine in everyday operation. Its elegant design and eye-catching paintwork earned it the nickname "Papousek" (parrot).
