Roco 7500079 H0 DR electric locomotive 244 127-7: A classic beauty of Era IV
The Roco 7500079 H0 electric locomotive 244 127-7 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) is a detailed replica of the class E 44. With its shape variant, the typical scissor pantographs of the type RBS 58 and numerous attached details, this model embodies the technical elegance of Era IV.
The prototype: The E 44 series
Almost 200 of the class E 44 electric locomotives were built between 1932 and 1954. They were designed for use on branch lines and main lines and were considered to be extremely versatile. After the Second World War, many of these locomotives had to be handed over to the USSR as part of reparations. However, the GDR was able to buy back the majority of these machines in 1952.
In Raw Dessau, 46 locomotives were refurbished and put back into service from 1955. Between 1961 and 1964, the locomotives were fitted with RBS 58 pantographs with double rockers, which further improved their operation. Locomotive 244 127 was stationed at the Leipzig-Wahren depot and played an important role in the DR's Central German network.
The railroad company: Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR)
The Deutsche Reichsbahn managed rail transport in the GDR in Era IV (1965-1990). Despite limited resources, it relied on the modernization and maintenance of proven locomotives such as the E 44 series in order to meet the growing demands.
Era IV: Progress in the GDR
Era IV was characterized by the modernization of rail transport in East Germany. Models such as the electric locomotive 244 127-7 show the technical progress and the challenges that the DR faced in this era. This model brings the historical charm of this era to your layout.
