Roco 7520079 H0 DR electric locomotive 244 127-7 with AC sound: Era IV classic
The Roco 7520079 H0 electric locomotive 244 127-7 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) is a high-quality model that combines the versatility of the E 44 series with modern AC digital technology and sound function. With its typical GDR look and detailed realization, this locomotive is a highlight for model railroaders of Era IV.
The prototype: The E 44 series
Almost 200 of the class E 44 electric locomotives were built between 1932 and 1954. They were considered to be extremely reliable and versatile and were used on both main and branch lines. After the Second World War, many of these locomotives had to be handed over to the USSR as reparations. However, as early as 1952, the GDR was able to buy back the majority of the machines and refurbish them in Raw Dessau.
From 1961, the locomotives were equipped with modern RBS 58 scissor pantographs. This innovation allowed operation with only one pantograph attached. Locomotive 244 127 was stationed at the Leipzig-Wahren depot and was a mainstay of Central German rail traffic.
The railroad company: Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR)
In Era IV, the Deutsche Reichsbahn modernized its vehicle fleet and also relied on proven locomotives such as the E 44. With its robustness and adaptability, the 244 127 became an important part of GDR rail transport.
Era IV: Progress and preservation
Era IV (1965-1990) marks a time of technological change, in which classic vehicles such as the E 44 series were adapted to the growing requirements through modernization. This era is a fascinating mix of tradition and innovation, which the model reflects perfectly.
