The prototype of the Roco 7500108 electric locomotive 'Italienpiercer'
In June 2024, SBB Cargo International received the electric locomotive 193 139-3, nicknamed the "Italy Piercer". This locomotive is part of the "Alppiercer" series and was leased to SBB Cargo International by Railpool. As the 1,250th Vectron locomotive from Siemens, it is a milestone in Vectron production. With its special livery, it is dedicated to the Isola di Pescatori in Lake Maggiore on one side and the Piazza del Duomo in Milan on the other - a tribute to the connection between Switzerland and Italy.
High-quality model design
Roco has manufactured this model with particular precision. It has free-standing grab irons, partly made of metal, and an elaborate roof design. The first-time implementation of the contact strip for Italian traffic and the new design of the rail scraper emphasize the high level of detail. This model was designed in cooperation with Railcolor Design and is a licensed product.
Era VI: State-of-the-art railroad technology
Era VI stands for the digitalization and internationalization of rail transport. The Vectron MS from Siemens is a prime example of this development. It is equipped with ETCS Baseline 3 and therefore meets the highest safety and communication standards in European rail traffic.
Technical features of the Roco 7500108
The locomotive is equipped with a Swiss light change function, a PluX22 interface and LED lighting. It has a flywheel mass that ensures smooth running characteristics and is designed for operation on H0 model railway layouts with a minimum radius of 358 mm. The coupling is equipped with a shaft in accordance with NEM 362 and KK kinematics, which ensures a high degree of flexibility.
Design and special paintwork
The locomotive impresses with its elaborate special paintwork with two different side motifs. These show iconic scenes from Italy and underline the locomotive's role as an "Italian piercer". The exclusive design was developed in collaboration with Railcolor Design and makes this model a visual highlight.
Conclusion: A must-have for modern model railroad layouts
The Roco 7500108 H0 electric locomotive 193 139-3 'Italienpiercer' is a technically and visually outstanding model.
