YaMoRC YD8008 8-fold solenoid or turnout decoder (solenoid decoder) with CDU
The YaMoRC YD8008 is a powerful 8-fold solenoid turnout decoder that is specially designed for high-current solenoid turnout drives. With an integrated current storage unit (CDU), it reliably delivers enough power to ensure that even switching-intensive points can be safely switched. Ideal if several magnetic points are to be switched simultaneously or in quick succession.
Technical performance and features
The decoder has eight independent outputs for magnetic items such as points or uncouplers, equipped with a 9,400 µF current storage CDU whose charge status is continuously monitored. When charging, the decoder draws a maximum of around 380 mA. Each output offers a very high switching current, suitable for standard solenoid coil drives (e.g. Peco®, Seep®, Gaugemaster, etc.). The supply voltage can be AC (10-16 V) or DC (12-19 V). The module is not suitable for motorized turnout drives or MTB turnout motors - for these YaMoRC recommends the YD8116. The simple basic setting is made via a program button plus switching the desired start address, which is then automatically assigned to outputs 1-8.
User-friendliness & configuration
ES-Link is used for configuration, which enables plain text configuration. No complex CV programming is necessary. Optionally, the module can be set up with the YD9101 Config-Tool or YD7010 Command via web interface. It also offers an adjustable pulse duration and a start delay for the CDU so that switching commands are not blocked by short-circuit messages in boosters.
Connection & integration into existing systems
The decoder has three-pole connections per magnetic turnout: "C" (common), "T" and "+" - for the operated solenoid coils (two coils per turnout - straight / branch). Power is supplied via suitable power supply units or transformers with at least 500 mA output, typically 15 V/500 mA is sufficient. The output connections for the solenoid coils are robustly dimensioned and suitable for cable cross-sections up to approx. 0.5-0.75 mm².
