50094 Feedback module

ECoSDetector feedback module, 16 digital inputs, thereof 4 RailCom feedbacks. Digital inputs switchable for 2-wire or 3-wire operation, OPTOOn larger layouts, the desire to determine the current position of one's locomotives and trains quickly arises. Knowing which track section is currently occupied or which track in the staging yard is still free enables automatic operations.

We would like to introduce our ECoSDetector. This module can be used with all ECoS command stations or Central Station Reloaded and can monitor up to 16 track sections. Whether it is 2-wire or 3-wire track, can be set directly on the module. In addition to the 16 track occupancy detectors or feedback detectors, each ECoSDetector can also perform train number detection on four track sections if decoders with RailCom® are used. If desired, the ECoSDetector can be supplemented by the ECoSDetector Extension Module: Docked on the side, it provides up to 32 outputs, for example, to indicate the occupied status of track sections with a lamp or to switch a block signal appropriately.

Monitoring and reporting:The ECoSDetector can monitor 16 track sections and detect if there is a train on it (track busy signal). Since the 16 inputs, in each of which a maximum current of 3A may flow, can be powered separately in two groups, each ECoSDetector can cover up to two booster circuits. Optocouplers ensure reliable detection. Jumpers can be used to select 2-wire or 3-wire operation directly on the device.Switching inputs

Alternatively, the 16 inputs can also be used as conventional switching inputs: Connect reed contacts, switching tracks or simple pushbuttons and (toggle) switches to them and process the information in the control center.Train number recognitionIn addition to conventional track occupancy detectors, each ECoSDetector is also capable of special monitoring of four of the 16 track sections: With the help of RailCom® technology (so-called "local detector"), it is possible to find out on these sections not only whether there is a train on it, but even exactly which train it is (train number detection). However, Railcom®-capable locomotive decoders must be installed for this purpose.Clever

Knowing which train exactly is on a section leads to new functions in connection with the route module of the ECoS: For example, a train's whistle can be automatically triggered before level crossings, or the trains in the staging yard can be determined.

On request, the switching inputs or track occupancy detectors can be electronically "debounced" to ensure reliable feedback even in the event of unreliable contact or heavily soiled rails.

ECoSlink connection:Each ECoSDetector is directly connected to the control center via the ECoSlink bus. Suitable are all ECoS command stations as well as all Central Station® Reloaded with Update from ESU. The galvanic isolation of bus system and command station ensures highest operational safety and secure transmission to the command station. All ECoSDetectors are automatically detected at the command station and integrated into the operating sequence. The configuration of the devices is done comfortably and conveniently directly at the command station and can also be done after installation.Future built in

The operating software of each ECoSDetector can be updated and extended by additional functions if required: The "update" required for this is carried out fully automatically by the control panel, if necessary. In this way, your ECoSDetector is always up to date with the latest technology.

Frequently asked questions

Question: What is the ESU 50094 ECoSDetector feedback module used for?
Answer:

The module monitors up to 16 track sections and reports their occupancy status to a compatible digital command station. It is particularly useful for automated routes, staging yards and other monitored layout areas.

Question: Is the feedback module suitable for two-rail and three-rail layouts?
Answer:

Yes, each input can be configured by jumper as either a switching or ground input or as a current detector. This allows the module to be used with both two-rail and three-rail track systems.

Question: What are the benefits of the RailCom function?
Answer:

Four of the 16 inputs support RailCom. On these sections, the system can identify not only whether the track is occupied but also which suitably equipped vehicle is present.

Question: Can the module monitor more than one booster circuit?
Answer:

Yes, the inputs are divided into two separately powered groups. This allows up to two booster circuits to be monitored, with a maximum permitted current of 3 A per input.

Question: Which digital command stations are compatible with the ECoSDetector?
Answer:

The module connects to an ECoS command station through the ECoSlink bus and is automatically detected and configured. Central Station Reloaded systems with a suitable ESU update can also be supported.
