Fleischmann 7560091 N Electric Locomotive Rh 1116 088-6 ÖBB Ep. VI

Are you looking for a modern electric locomotive for your N-gauge model railroad layout that authentically reflects Austrian passenger and freight rail service? The Fleischmann 7560091 Rh 1116 088-6 electric locomotive from the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) impresses with its characteristic Taurus design and prototypical detailing in its current operational condition, featuring new pictograms and ETCS markings.

As an Era VI model, the locomotive embodies modern Austrian rail transport. With its powerful drive system, LED lighting, and the option for digital retrofitting, the Rh 1116 is ideal for a variety of passenger and freight trains on your N-gauge layout.

Fleischmann Rh 1116 088-6 – Modern Taurus of the Austrian Federal Railways

With the entry into service of the first Taurus locomotive of the 1016 series in the summer of 1999, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) began a comprehensive modernization of its electric locomotive fleet.

The new universal locomotives were designed to be used in both high-quality passenger service and heavy freight service. In addition to the single-system version of the 1016 series, the ÖBB therefore also procured the 1116 series as a high-performance dual-system locomotive.

These locomotives can operate on the European AC grid at both 15 kV with 16.7 Hz and 25 kV with 50 Hz. This makes them particularly well-suited for cross-border rail transport.

By 2006, a total of 282 Class 1116 electric locomotives had been put into service. With a power output of 6,400 kW and a maximum authorized speed of 230 km/h, they are among the most powerful universal locomotives of the Austrian Federal Railways.

Current operational condition with ETCS markings

The Fleischmann 7560091 depicts electric locomotive 1116 088-6 in its current operational condition. Particularly distinctive are the new pictograms and the ETCS markings, which indicate the prototype’s modern equipment.

ETCS stands for the European Train Control System, a European train control system designed to standardize and make cross-border rail traffic safer.

With its modern lettering, the Rh 1116 088-6 is a perfect match for current Austrian passenger and freight cars. The typical Taurus design makes the model an attractive eye-catcher on any N-gauge model railroad layout.

Analog electric locomotive with NEM 651 digital interface

The Fleischmann 7560091 is supplied as an analog DC locomotive. Power is provided by a three-pole motor with a flywheel, which ensures smooth operation and pleasant running characteristics.

All four axles are powered. Two traction tires enhance traction and enable the locomotive to pull longer passenger and freight trains.

The three-light headlight, which changes direction depending on the direction of travel, along with two red tail lights, is equipped with LEDs and provides realistic lighting while the locomotive is in motion.

For future digitalization, the locomotive features an NEM 651 electrical interface with a plug-in connector. This allows for the retrofitting of a suitable digital decoder.

A Z21 cab is also available for the 1116 series, which, when paired with the appropriate digital equipment and a compatible Z21 control system, offers a particularly engaging operating experience.

Close-coupling mechanism and versatile applications

The electric locomotive features NEM 355 coupler sockets with close-coupling kinematics. This allows it to be integrated into various N-gauge train sets.

With a length over buffers of 121 mm and a minimum negotiable radius of 192 mm, the Rh 1116 088-6 is also suitable for more compact model railroads.

The four powered axles and the flywheel provide excellent conditions for regular use on your layout.

Ideal locomotive for modern ÖBB passenger and freight trains

The Fleischmann Rh 1116 088-6 pairs particularly well with modern passenger cars from the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). The Fleischmann Eurofima cars from Era VI, with part numbers 6260105, 6260106, 6260107, 6260108, and 6260109, make an excellent addition.

Together, they allow you to assemble a variety of Austrian passenger trains, just as they are found in international long-distance service.

The Taurus also performs exceptionally well with modern freight cars. Whether container trains, tank car trains, or mixed freight trains—this versatile electric locomotive offers numerous possibilities for prototypical model railroad operation.

Bring modern Austrian rail transport to your model railroad layout! Get the Fleischmann 7560091 Rh 1116 088-6 from the ÖBB and expand your N-gauge collection with a powerful Era VI Taurus electric locomotive featuring current lettering and the option for digital retrofitting.
