With the Piko 40358 BR 116 electric locomotive in sound version, PIKO brings a piece of German Federal Railroad history to the N scale layout - realistically set to music, implemented in high quality and technically up to date. The locomotive represents the striking locomotive type of Era IV in the typical DB design of the 1970s and 80s.

The model is equipped with a factory-fitted PIKO PSD XP sound decoder and reproduces authentic operating sounds true to the original - from starting to driving to braking. A special feature of this design variant is the exact reproduction of all the typical features of the BR 116 in DB design, including the front design, roof sections and fan details.

The LED lighting with direction of travel-dependent light change in white/red ensures a prototypical representation for day and night operations. The model has a Next18 interface and is therefore also open for future digital adaptations, despite already being equipped with a decoder and sound at the factory.

With an overall length of 102 mm, the locomotive is compact enough for smaller radii from 192 mm. Two traction tires ensure stable tractive force. The NEM shaft coupling with close coupler link enables close, realistic car connections when running - even with longer trains.
