Analogue, digital, two-rail or centre contact?
Control and current collection are separate decisions. Particularly in H0, the track must suit the powered vehicle.
Analogue for a straightforward family introduction
Speed and direction are changed directly at the controller. This is suitable for one train and a manageable layout.

The two running rails are electrically separated. PIKO A-Track, Roco Line and Trix C Track are among the widely used two-rail system worlds.
H0 centre contact
Stud contacts in the centre of the track supply the locomotive through a pickup shoe. Märklin C Track is a widely used centre-contact track system with roadbed.
